The Shore Crew is responsible for accompanying and directing the lifeboats down the beach and into the sea. It comprises the Head Launcher and a minimum of 4 Shore Crew for the all-weather boat, 2 for the inshore lifeboat.
The Head Launcher is responsible for directing the lifeboats to the safest and most appropriate launch location and for ensuring the recovery equipment is equally well placed.
The Shore Crew accompany the boats down to and back from the water. They monitor the systems and equipment and ensure that any observers and members of the public stay at a safe distance from the boats and equipment. They also actively assist in the recovery process.
