Llandudno’s D-Class Lifeboat – The Barbara Saunderson (D-793) was launched in 2016. It is named after XXX
The D-Class of lifeboat has been in service since 1963, but has continually evolved to use the latest technology and respond to changing demands. It is highly manoeuvrable and usually operates closer to shore than our all-weather lifeboats. It comes into its own for searches and rescues in the surf, shallow water and confined locations – often close to cliffs, among rocks and even inside caves.
The Llandudno D-Class can be launched from the Boathouse using the Bobcat or towed to other locations by the Landrover to be launched near to the scene of the incident.
The volunteer crew will launch the D-Class at any time of day or night, in any conditions.
